Plan a First Date with AI

Ask ChatGPT or Claude for a specific Utah Valley night, look at the person (or your own draft) with the plan, then post or mark Interested — after you confirm.

By the Rove Dating team · Updated October 19, 2026

AI is good at lists and bad at commitment. “Ten cute date ideas” is not a date. A date is Wednesday at 6:30, a named place, a face, and a way home. Rove is built around that object. Men post it. Women see the photo first, then the night, then can mark Interested in that plan. Your AI helps when it turns a vague Saturday into one of those objects — or finds one someone else already posted.

Written by the Rove Dating team for Utah Valley first dates: Provo, Orem, Lehi, campus, and short drives. Connect the assistant on Rove + Your AI. Ideas below link to the longer local guides so you are not inventing a night from a national template.

Write a night, not a vibe

Tell the AI the city, the window, who pays, and how you get there. “Active, cheap, Provo, Saturday morning, I pay, meet at the trailhead” is enough to draft a hike. “Something fun” is not. Keep first dates public, 60–180 minutes, and easy to leave. Start at least a couple of hours from now so the other person can plan.

Lead with the person. If you are posting, your photos should already be on your Rove profile; women will see your face next to the plan. If you are browsing, tell the AI to show each host’s photo before the venue. A first date is not a restaurant reservation with a stranger TBA.

Utah Valley first-date shapes that work

Pick from nights people here already understand. Walk-and-dessert in Provo. A soda-shop stop and a park in Orem. Gardens in Lehi on a Saturday. A campus museum, then the Creamery. A hike with a sane hour and a clear end. Skip private residences and anything that needs a long explanation.

Use the linked guides as the source of places, then ask your AI to attach a day and a time and — if you are a man — to wait for confirmation before it posts on Rove.

Provo first dates

Parkway walk, Creamery, Center Street. Ask: “Draft Wednesday 6:30, parkway then Creamery, I pay, meet there.”

Hikes in Utah County

The Y or a named trail, morning, public. Prompt: “Find me a Saturday hike date near Provo.”

Creamery dessert

Short, cheap, obvious. Good midweek plan for BYU and UVU calendars.

Soda-shop stop

Swig or another soda shop plus a park. Fast enough for a weeknight.

Thanksgiving Point / Lehi

Gardens or a meet-in-the-middle Saturday for north county and SLC.

Campus and under $20

Bean Museum, MOA, the Y. Fits a student week. See the BYU/UVU lists.

Outdoor near Provo

Parkway, foothills, daylight. Name the stretch, not “outdoors sometime.”

Indoor Utah Valley

Museums and galleries when the air is bad or the trail is ice.

Two paths: post, or mark Interested

Men: ask the AI to draft, then read it. Title, time, approximate area, who pays. Confirm posting. Check later: “who is interested in this plan?” — photos first. Do not post three overlapping Saturday mornings you cannot keep.

Women: ask it to search the window you actually have. “Saturday hike near Provo” or “Wednesday dessert in Orem.” Pick the person. Say you want to mark Interested in that plan. Read the note. Confirm. You can still share the night with friends over iMessage from the app before you go. How the loop works without AI is on how Rove works.

Mistakes the AI will make if you let it

It will pad a short plan into a three-stop itinerary. Cut it. It will suggest hanging out at someone’s apartment. Reject it. It will write a bio-shaped paragraph instead of a title with a time. Ask for the Rove fields only. It will forget the photo; remind it. For ChatGPT and Claude connect steps, use those guides and Rove + Your AI.

Membership is required. Trial is 30 days in iOS, then $1/week. The assistant cannot create a Rove account in the chat. Download the app first.

Drafts that look like real plans

These are first-date shaped: public, timed, photo-first. Post one, or mark Interested in Saturday hike near the Y if you are browsing. Examples, not members.

How Rove + Your AI works

Frequently asked questions

Can AI plan a first date for me?

It can draft a specific night or find one already posted on Rove. You still confirm before it posts or marks Interested. The date happens in person.

What should a first Rove plan include?

A public activity, a start time, an approximate area in Utah Valley, who pays, and your photo on the profile. Keep it short enough to end cleanly.

Where do I get local ideas?

Use the Utah date ideas hub and the city pages linked above, then ask your AI to attach a day and time. Do not start from a generic national list.

Does she “request” the date?

No. On Rove she marks Interested in the plan — for example, Interested in parkway walk, then the Creamery.
